Radiator fan not working on your 1994 – 2004 Ford Mustang? Tried everything to fix it? Here’s how to wire a manual switch to turn the fan on when you need it.
Last Halloween my 1996 V6 3.8 L Mustang convertible overheated so badly that the intake manifold to warped and blew out the gaskets. Radiator fluid everywhere. Nothing like getting your car towed to the shop when the kids want to go trick-or-treating.Good times.
After months of trying every test known to man, installing every new part I could think of, and even taking my Mustang to an ASE certified mechanic, I could not, under any circumstances, get the radiator fan to kick on and stop the car from overheating.
So I decided to hotwire it. Here’s how to wire your radiator fan to a switch inside the cab. This is a basic circuit. It doesn’t mess with the CCRM, or the computer. It bypasses the cooling system entirely.
The air conditioner and heater still work perfectly and I haven’t felt any drag on the engine. Honestly, I would rather the cooling system worked properly, but this is the next best thing.
